I currently own a Curlmaster Ceramic straightener, which I also bought for around 20-30 dollars at Sally Beauty Salon. It works really well on my thick, curly hair and has about 20 heat settings. Sally's carries the best variety of straighteners for the cheapest price vs. stores like Wal Mart, ect. Go to Sally's and find a jilbere red curling iron. it can straighten too, it is so smooth and healthy for your hair but still produces a long lasting curl. and its only 19.99
