If I don't have a hair straightener can i use a household iron ?

i really dont know,be careful if you doIf I don't have a hair straightener can i use a household iron ?
Use a curling Iron, just run your hair through it quickly. Do not let the curling Iron stop long enough to curl your hair and you'll get it straight. you can use a regular Iron, but I don't remember what setting. It's hard to do and uncomfortable with all the bending over and ironing your hair getting up to see what you did etc etc. If I don't have a hair straightener can i use a household iron ?
yes you can, I have done it many of times.

I turn it on the hottest setting and get a smaller towel to protect my hand, you just have to be careful not to burn you arm or neck or face!! and don 't just hold it on the one spot. take a piece of hair put the iron on the top and slide it down. Also don't do this everysingle day it will kill your hair!!
If you have really thick hair then it shouldn't be much of a problem, however if you have thin hair then it will most likely burn. Usually straighteners have a ceramic coating on them that helps protect hair from burning and regular irons don't have that.
yeah my friend always did this, take a towel and use it as a thing underneath your hair so you dont burn yourself of course!

and becareful .. maybe have your mom or sibling help you out, or even a friend.

i've done it by myself, but pleaseplease be careful .

and try and get a straightner, it's alot safer.
I was in the ER one time and someone came in with a severe burn to part of her face and neck. Please don't do it. You can get an inexpensive straightener at Walmart for about $15.
Definitely. I do it all the time.

For some reason, this is what I look like.

Yes my mother tell me when it was the 60s and 70s they use to iron their hair to make it straighter. With a regular iron set on low. Serious that is what she said.
when i first told my dad to buy me one, he said why dont we just set the iron on low?

and then i showed him what it looked like and he said the iron would of worked lol
Yeah, but have someone else do it.

Ha, you don't want to burn your hair off, or have the iron touch your head. (Ouch!)

It comes out equally as smooth and straight :]
WAY back in the day my mother and her friends used to use the household iron on their hair. Technology wasn't very advanced back in the 60's.
Yes - by laying your hair on a towel and covering it with a thin cup towel, you can iron your hair. My best friends sister did it the whole time we were growing up. Worked a treat!
You'll sizzle your hair right up and have a very high chance of burning yourself, but I know of people that have done it before. Its not a good decision to make though.
Technically, yes you can. But make sure it's on its lowest setting because those things can get pretty hot and you don't want to fry and dry your hair!
I used to all the time before they made good hair straighteners. It wont get close to the roots, but I'll be damned that it gets your hair wicked straight. Just dont put it on high! Medium would be better.
You can use an iron,I saw my mother do it.She used a lot of steam on a low setting.Kind of a scary sight
It looks fine after about 2 or 3 tries but it damages your hair dries it out and gives you split ends.

Hair takes a LONG time to grow back... buy a hair straightener for $30 instead.
WELL WHEN I WAS YOUNGER BACK IN THE 70S WE DIDNT HAVE HAIR STRAIGHTER S WE LAID OUR DAMP HAIR ON THE IRONING BOARD AND PRESSED IT STSAIGHT
You can use it but have fun frying it.
Depends on how long your hair is. People used to do that back in the day. So yes you can, It works just the same
There is reason it's called a hair straightener.
yes you can carefully but, not close to the scalp. might need help. awkward.
On a really low setting maybe---be careful you don't burn your hair!
Actually you can, that is what the girls in the 60's did.
That would hurt now wouldn't it?
No, not the iron for clothe, that will Hurt, lol thats for sure.

Yeah I know someone who did that. Just cover your hair with a cloth or something for protection.
if you have long hair yes. you shouldn't try to straighten the hair close to your scalp though...
That would depend on your threshold of pain and your proximity to the nearest Burns Unit.
No that would be stupid, burns your hair, and you can get a straightening iron at a store!
If you can figure out a way so as not to get burned. I don't see why not,
