I have to travel to the states, and would like to take a hair straightener, but over there I think voltage is 110. Over here it is about 240. If my straightener says 110-240 volts at 50/60hz, will it work over there? You are correct in that voltage in the US is 120v. Per your specs, it will work over here. However, some electrical appliances have a 120v/240v switch on them. If so, be sure to place the switch in the correct position. If your straightener is simply a heater, it might work without switching, but only at half power in the US.
