(Hair straightener help) is it ok to.....?

I have the VS Sasson gold plate hair straightener. I got it at a garage sale for $2 and it didnt come with instructions. Can my hair be wet or damp when I'm using this straightener or does it have to be dry. Thank you for taking ur time to read this and thanks for the help :)(Hair straightener help) is it ok to.....?
I think it would be safer if you just let your hair dry and then straighten it.
