chi, just go to the hair dresser, its really good and it lasts a really long time too
i have a revlon...but at my hair salon my hairdresser used a ';good hair day'; straightener and its AMAZING
i have really curly hair, and i got the sedu from www.folica.com. it is absolutely amazing. my hair stays stick straight through humidity. it will only come unstraight if you get it wet, or from sweat. it is an excellent straightner and runs around 200 dollars. i totally recomend it!
i hear chi's are good.
chi ... depends where u buy it ... at the mall u get a lifetime warranty
coriolos pro is the best

it leaves your hair nice and silky

without any frizzes
There is no one better than the other. They come in different strengths depending upon your hair. There is soft, medium, and heavy hair so to speak and one must use the proper straightener otherwise one will have problems. The best thing for you to do is go to the beauty shop and have a professional do you hair for you. A good professional knows exactly what to do to have you looking your best with the hair style that becomes YOU! Best of luck.

Babyliss or Philips hair straightener?

I'm looking at the cheapest ones for around $70. Nothing pro. But which one?Babyliss or Philips hair straightener?
i have babyliss and they're great!

they kepp your hair super straight all day,

the only bad thing about them is they damage your hair a lot (well mine do)

like when i go to the hairdressers and they make my hair really soft, i come home and straighten it the way i like it and its no longer soft at all =/

but as cheapy straightners go....babyliss are really good!Babyliss or Philips hair straightener?

Whats a good hair straightener to buy?

My old hair straightener is from conair, it's the black one with the tannish irons in there. I think it was about 30 bucks. But i need a new one that actually leaves your hair nice and straight. My old one makes my hair straight but after a half hour to an hour, it gets messed up and my hair starts to become wavy a little. If anyone can recommend a specific hair straightener thats not too expensive and is professional or something, plz! Thanks lolWhats a good hair straightener to buy?

Paul MitchellWhats a good hair straightener to buy?
    Hey,

GHD's are very good, i have some and i highly recommend them, they keep your hair perfectly straight all through the day and although they are quite expensive they are definitely worth it. (www.ghdhair.com)

But if you wanted something abit cheaper but just as good Remington hair straighteners are brilliant my friend has a pair and they work just as well, they can be bought from many of your local electronic stores

    Hope that helps you decide

    x
My staightner is from Bespoke Labs--Tailored T3 technology. It is a professional straightner that my mom bought me up at a salon in the Twin Cities, MN. It cost about $150, but it works wonders on the hair, and keeps my hair straightened all day.

Here is a picture of it..

    http://www.kaboodle.com/hi/img/2/0/0/93//a>
Chi straightners are the best in my oppinion. They're way over 30 dollars but in the long run they're worth it. I'd rather invest in one that works then have to pay for crappy ones over and over.

Chi's straighten your hair extremely really well and they don't burn it as bad.
'Remington proffesional' is a good one. make sure you buy one with ceramic plates though
GHD is the best in the world. Reduces the ironing time by half at least.

What kind of hair straightener(s) do you have?

well i need something bad and i look at like the Chi's and stuff and like i need somethin that works. What kind of hair straightener(s) do you have?
I bought my hair straightener from wal-mart for around 60$. It works really well on my hair, and I have really thick hair.

It's silver, kinda small, and the company is Conair.

Conair is a well known company, and I also got my well working curling iron from there.

At wal-mart there's also a straightening iron from Conair, the same as the one that I just talked about, that has a little flip to it at the end, to give you that flippy touch.

Also, they sell really good straighteners at hair dresser stores, so if you know anyone (close friend or something) that's a hairdresser, you can give them the money and they can buy one for you. (Those cost around 115$ or so)

What kind of hair straightener(s) do you have?
Remington Wet 2 Straight, works well

Gold 'n Hot- this also works well

why did i get a thumbs down? sheesh.

I have a CHI, but for me it doesn't help much.

What is the best ceramic hair straightener?

one that i could get @ walgreens???What is the best ceramic hair straightener?
Well I'm not sure you can find any that are very good at walgreens...The best ceramic straightener would be a chi...It usually costs anywhere from 80-100 dollars. Hope I helped! What is the best ceramic hair straightener?

    conair inphiniti!!!

How often is too often to use my hair straightener?

i use it every day, and so do some of my friends, but my sister told me that i shouldn't use it more than once a week or it'll ruin my hair. is that true? How often is too often to use my hair straightener?
too often would be every other day or so. but if really wanna get rid of that curly hair. this will not make it straight but it will make is wavy. After your shower at night flip your hair upside down then gather it up like into a ponytail then twist it into a bun. sleep like that. the next day take it out. and tadaaHow often is too often to use my hair straightener?
Specific straightners can damage your hair badly.

But if you get a straightner with ceramic plate then it won't fry your hair badly.

Try the Conair Steam Straightner or the Maxi Glide.

They dont damage your hair plus they make your hair really smoothe!

    Good Luck!

*Vote for me for best answer! I need points!*

it does do alot of damage to your hair, i usually straighten my hair like every other day, like i take a shower everyday, but i don't wash my hair everyday, every other day so i don't do extreme damage to it
It does damage your hair, but as long as you use a good hair straightener and the heat protecting spray, you should be fine.
during school, i use it everyday. and my hair's as good as it was before i started:)

Sally's Beauty Supply sells these straighteners, I believe the brand name's called GVP, but it's just Sally's store-brand. Anyways, they're like... $60, I think? And they come in loads of different colors. Those are great. I've talked to a lot of professional stylists about it, and they all say that they work just as well as a CHI iron, for half the price. :]Whats the best brand of hair straightener?
I have a CHI and i love it! i noticed the difference right away, compared to the old cheap straighteners i used to use.

As a stylist, I have used a lot of flat irons/hair straighteners, including Sedu, Hai, Infrashine, Chi, Paul Mitchell, Solia, Big Sexy, Andis, Babyliss Ghd, T3, Kenta etc. You should get a Professional hair straightener, they style much better and faster, and most importantly, they protect your hair.

    In terms of performance:

The best ones are: Sedu, Kenta, Solia, Infrashine, Ghd. These are top of the line professional brands

Above average: Chi, Hai, Paul Mitchell,

Average: T3, Big Sexy, Andis, Babyliss

Below Average: Conair, Vidal Sassoon, Revlon, Bed Head etc. These are cheap consumer brands that you will find in drugstore. If you care about your hair, do NOT buy them.

=== Tips for buying professional hair appliances ===

Do NOT buy professional hair appliances from unauthorized places like amazom.com, eBay, Target, Walmart, etc. Because if you do, manufacturers will refuse to honor the warranty. Buy from licensed places like salon, licensed professional beauty stores like Folica.com, Ulta.com, West Coast Beauty Supply Inc. etc

    Buildup on hair straightener?

My hair straightener has hard buildup on it from hair products. The buildup is not just on the edges, it is on the whole plate. I have tried rubbing alcohol and that barely got a little off after rubbing for several minutes. I've tried letting it heat up and then wiping it with a wet cloth but that didn't work either. Is there anything else I can try, or is it just time for a new straightener? They are expensive and I'd like to not have to get a new one.Buildup on hair straightener?
Make sure the straightener is OFF, grab a household cleaning product, like CLR, and scrub at the buildup, afterwards, make sure ALL the cleaning product is wiped away, and resume using your newly clean straightener.Buildup on hair straightener?
Try some dawn dishwashing soap dilluted in water, and scrub at it with a stiff toothbrush.
Make sure its unplugged...not just off. But yes, cleaner works.
Try scraping it off with a flat piece of plastic. Don't use metal because it will scratch the straightener and the scratches will make stuff stick to it again... I find scraping is the best to get that stuff off! It dissolves in water/alcohol but it usually takes a long time to dissolve and come off that way.

you can curl, straighten, crimp your hair with it. (with out changing the plates) its is so hard to break...(i can be slammed on the floor as hard as you want. its piratically indestructible)

it only goes up to a certain temp. so it wont burn your hair, you can use it while your hair is still damp.

they only take 15 secs. to start up. and when unplugged it cools fast too. so you never have to wait long

its is professional so it has a 9ft cord so you can take it far lol

If you want a hair straightener that lasts for years... your gonna have to spend more then 20 bucks.

I got mine for $40 at ULTA and its been almost four years.

    CONAIR IS CHEAP!!!

    DO NOT USE IT!

Their products burn your hair faster then you can say peanut butter!

I'd say ask your mom, but tell her that your first hair straightener would last longer AND work better.

But remember, don't burn your hair off!

Use it wisely and start of slow and steady.

    ULTA has many good choices.

Even if your hair is thick, thin, dry, or oily. It really doesn't matter because they have such a great variety you'll be very surprised.

Browse around at www.ULTA.com and find a store near you!

    I hope I helped. ;)

I think they are both pathetic. I bought both and they both sucked. I prefer a different one I got at Sally's Beauty Supply for $30.00. It really pays to pay more.
I had the conair one and it did not work well. It fried my hair and did not get it very straight.

Chi's are my favorite straighteners - but they are super pricey - about $100.

My stylist told me when I was looking for one to make sure I bought one with ceramic plates. The ceramic conducts heat better and won't be as damaging on your hair.
My straightening iron is called Porcelain and you can get them at Sally's Beauty Supply for only 19 dollars. It also gets rid of frizz. I also recommend using an Ion heat protection spray because it also gets rid of frizz.
i bought a generic chi for 80 bucks. just like the real thing. my hair is so curly and poofy and now it's shiny and straight. plus its not burnt bc chis burn.

What's the best hair straightener that won't damage your hair?

thanks in advanced! What's the best hair straightener that won't damage your hair?
Any and every straightener will damage your hair.

Go for ones that have a heat setting. And try to go to a low setting if you want your hair to have less damage.

A GHD or CHI works great and they have ceramic plates which don't damage your hair *as much* as other straighteners. What's the best hair straightener that won't damage your hair?
Smart comment? ';Damaging your hair is a superb idea';.. sorry honey thats a really annoying commment, she's simply asking for a straightner, so shutup with dumb comments like that.

    Anyways.

    1. FHI

--I have this, it heats up to 450 degrees, adjustable temeperature, takes about 30 seconds- 2 minutes if its 2 years old or so. The thin ones reach the roots better, and it makes your hair so thick and shiny! I have one, and my aunt, who is a hair stylist/beauty teacher, really reccomends this

    2. CHI

    3. GHD

    4 SEDU

    5. Straight Crazy/Cricket

Try buying a hot sauce, (heat protectant), from chi, matrix, or fhi. I really suggest smooth %26amp; sleek by matrix, its a bit costly, but it keeps your hair well protected! If you don't need a great straigthner, you can try and cheaper brand, and and invest in a nice spray.
I recently bought a brush from Boots that looks like a pair of tongs, but with bristles on either side. Its AMAZING. When my hair is damp, i just brush my hair using it, by grabbing clumps of hair and closing the brush around it and pulling down - similar to a real hair straightener. Then. if i want it REALY straight I wait a bit, then do the same thing whilst using a diffuser.

My hair is straight and i haven't used any DIRECT heat that is damaging my hair. It's sooo good. But my hair does frizz a bit if i dont use a really good condiitoner after washing it - just a warning.
all straighteners damage your hair. you are applying extreme heat to very thin fibres. our hair was not created to tolerate the scorching temperatures we apply to it.

however, the least damaging straightener is definitely the ghd. it uses negative ion technology which helps to smooth down your hair. i used to use a vs sassoon straightener and i had split ends up to 6 cm long. it was awful.

since ive used to ghd my hair has improved alot, and although i still get split ends my general hair condition is still really good.

what really helps against damage are professional heat styling products. products from drugstores just wont do, you need to go to a salon and buy something from there. i personally use matrix heat styling spray (in the orange bottle) and that helps alot. i also use redken all soft treatment in my hair which helps restore some of the moisture loss you get from straightening.
um... i think they all damage your hair if you used them every day.i use GHD and after straightening it every day i find i get split ends faster.my aunt gave me some hair product called flat iron and it helps with not killing my hair. i would try that.(if you straighten every day) :)

    hope i was help full
    Try a Sedu!

I have one, and it's amazing!

They cost about $120, but they're so worth it.

Sedus have an adjustable heat dial, heat up in 25 seconds, AND don't fry your hair at all!

You can buy one here: http://www.folica.com/Sedu_Pro_Ionic__d1/a>

That's a reliable site. I bought my Sedu straightener there, and received it a few days later.

Chi . this is the most amazing hair straightener ever. it straightens super fast and well with limited time and it leaves minimum damage and frizz.
GHD - expensive, but worth it.

Whats a good inexpensive hair straightener?

I'm looking for something thats works great with wavy hair and dosen't wear off during the day or when its humid. Something around 30$ or less. Whats a good inexpensive hair straightener?
http://www.getinstyler.com/Whats a good inexpensive hair straightener?
I'm not sure, but I want you to know this when you are shopping for a new straightener: ceramic plates work best and do NOT get something that is interchangeable, like something that changes from curler to straightener. I don't need/want best answer cuz i didn't give you what you wanted, just trying to help :)
With hair straightners, you tend to get what you pay for. Trust me, I've tried most of them. I have very curly hair and at one time probably have owned most hair straighters on the market. I decided to splurge and take a chance and buy a good straightner. I have a Chi and I am in love with it. It costs around $120 and you can get it at Target but it is well worth the price. My ringlet curls turn into staight glossy hair that doesnt frizz. If you don't want to spend that i'm sure there is a cheaper alternative that will work, I just haven't found it yet.
Try a conair one that's really thin. It is cheap and has heat settings for wavy and curly hair. It works great for my wavy hair. Best of luck!!! Oh, and by the way, it's like 25$, but with a coupon we got ours for like 5!!!
well for that cost you should get the Wet to Straight, available at walmart

but i have the best straightner in the world

Will my U.S. hair straightener work in singapore?

If I get a converter will it still not work. Same goes for my curling iron and my blow dryer? Will my U.S. hair straightener work in singapore?
If you use the power converter it will. However the risk of it blowing up still remains. Give it a shot though. The Remington travel converters are $19.99 at any Radio Shack or Electronics good store.

    All the best.

Fai!Will my U.S. hair straightener work in singapore?
For small appliance * Iron/hair dryer * you can use Power Step drown Transformer ( AC - 230 V to AC 110 V Converter ) But is not advice for other electric items, like Oven. cooker ..because such big items drown high Amp , you costs for converter is very high and not safety. For hair Straightener / iron, you need to buy the Converter work for 15 Amp.any converter work less than 15 Amp, will case over heat and damage after 15 min use ! Check with the shop about this before you buy .if you get the converter in USA, you need to buy an Multi AC plug Adapter ,because USA is use NEMA - 1-15 and 5-15 type of Socket, and Singapore is British type standards BS-1363 . is very easy for you to get the Multi plug Adapter in Singapore as about SGD 8.oo . and a 15 Amp AC 230-110 V converter costs about SGD 50-60 .***** Consider , Electric/Electronics items if free of import Tax in Singapore ( 7% sales Tax) , New hair straightener is from SGD 60.oo hair dryer is from SGD 15.oo , depend of maker/brand.
Things that have to heat up are really hard on converters. Last year when I was in France, my straightener started smoking. But blow dryers will still work.
no. the government will find you. the government will find you..
Nope you need to get a singapore plug adapter.

Conair is the brand I have.An afordable, yet effective hair straightener?
I already answered this question, but the straightner I gave you was probably too expensive and didn't fit your buget. So, here are some that I found online that are all very cheap:

You can order these online from the site I gave you. Hope I helped this time =]

I think that the andis ones from wal*mart work pretty well...it's only like 15 or 20 dollars.

What is a good hair straightener?

I want to get the alice Cullen hair style. what is the best straightener to get. (this will be my first time buying one!)What is a good hair straightener?
I have straighted my hair for four years now and have quite enough experience to recomend one right? lol... cheap hair irons that they sell at walgreens...walmart etc burn your hair faster. I definitely recommend CHI flat iron...I believe they sell them at Jc Penney or Sears or a professional hair products store. Yes they are expensive, I bought one for $93 which it isn't so bad for the money that I spent in total in all the other cheap trash. It leaves your hair very soft and shiny and it is a ceramical iron so it doesn't burn your hair as bad as the cheapy ones. You do have to use a spray before ironing your hair which proctects the hair from the heat. Those you can find in pharmacies etc most work pretty good but I always tend to go for the (CHI Flat iron guard) it is a red bottle. That one i have seen in Target, and of course where they sell the Iron itself. So remember something:

    1. Never iron it when it's wet. Blow dry it first! Not even a little wet bc that will burn your hair.

    2. Put hair serum (anti-frizz) when the hair is wet and then blow-dry it. (ONLY A LITTLE DROP BC IT'S VERY VERY OILY) otherwise your hair will look dirty.

    3. Put some hair polish or shiner at the end for a nice shiny and gorgeous look! What is a good hair straightener?
i've had a chi for about 3 years. its the best i have ever had. i purchased it on ebay, new, for $80 instead of it's retail price of about $200. it was the real thing too. they are used by most big hairstylists cuz they are the best!

Although since my hair can't stay straight, it doesn't always work for me.

or some croc thing. but i would go with the chi (:

What are sum good hair straightener for colored hair???

Since colored hair tends to be dry and brittle, use a ';pre heating'; spray and spray it on your ends to give them that littloe extra protection. I would also def. go for a ceramic straightning iron. The CHI works wonders, but is a LITTLE pricey. Some cheaper ceramic straightners:

they're not designed for coloured hair but I dont think you can get straighteners that are

but GHDs are brilliant- they're designed to flatten and seal the hair cuticle as you straighten making it really shiny and straight

you can use ghds for curls too

GHD's! they're not specifically for dyed hair.. i dont think u can get ones for dyed hair but they are good!
GHD's are fantastic for coloured hair, whichever kind you choose though, always use heat protection stylig spray too. Cant go wrong.

http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.j/a> Thia one works awesome! You have to go over your hair a couple of times though
If you want a cheaper one, Conair is good.

If you have lots of money to blow, do any kind by CHI. They work wonders.

My hair straightener says that it is safe to use on wet hair...but I'm not sure if I trust it.?

I was always taught that water and electricity don't mix. Plus the straightener says to avoid electrical shock, don't get water on it. Isn't using it on wet hair getting water on it?? I'm confused!! Seriously, is it okay?? I have a Cortex, by the way, and it's not the wet to dry kind.My hair straightener says that it is safe to use on wet hair...but I'm not sure if I trust it.?
Well, wet to dry straighteners means that you can use it on your hair when it's really damp. Not when it's soaking wet, so as long as you don't drop it in a vat of water or use it on your soaking wet hair, you're fine. I read that some people think taht using it wet hair causes more damage. Not really, not for me anyways. As long as I'm not pulling on my hair, then it's all fine. When you're using your starightener, use your common sense and read the instructions. My hair straightener says that it is safe to use on wet hair...but I'm not sure if I trust it.?
The appliance itself will be ok, its your hair that probably wont.

When you run a 350+ degree flatiron over wet hair, you are basically ironing wet clothes if you know what I mean. Youd be better off pouring boiling water on your hair. I had a client come in to the salon after using one on her hair over the weekend and it looked like she took a lighter to the last 2 inches of her hair.

Not to say that another flatiron on DRY hair ISNT damaging because they all are but you can coat dry hair with a dry thermal protectant (Vavoom Iron-in control, or Sleek.look Iron Smoother) and get better results then a wet/dry iron!!
I have a Wet2Straight hair iron, and I used it on my wet hair before and I refuse to use it again when my hair is wet.

Only because the sizzle of it makes me wonder if I'm doing any permanent damage to my hair.

Using a flat iron isn't really recommended in the first place, but to use it while your hair is WET is another story. I would imagine this could cause split ends.

I guess everyone's hair is different. But I wouldn't do it again.
You can do it if you want to, but you should have your hair at least 80% dry before straightening it. when you straighten your hair wet, it pulls all of the moisture from your hair; it will sizzle and release steam. doing this will damage your hair further. i suggest making sure its mostly dry first otherwise your hair will be fried.
its fine ur not going 2 get electricuted or anything but these straightners are soo sooo bad for your hair when used on wet hair! im sure its fine to use on dry hair but i really would not recommend using it on on wet hair. as my hairdresser said dont u think that GHD would have made a wet-dry straightner by now if they were ok for your hair?
if it is not the wet to dry straightener, then no, i would probably keep it away from wet hair. it is not a good idea to use a straightener on wet hair anyways unless it was designed for it.
    I have one of those.

    It works fine.

    You won't die. :]

They're just talking about like if you dropped it into a bucket of water -- then you're in trouble.

But if you're sliding it across your wet hair you're good.
Hello, have you ever heard of throwing a toaster in a bath tub full of water? It is very dangerous and you should let your hair dry first. Be safe and don't let your hair burn!
no my straightener is wet to dry and its fine! its the plug that cant get wet. and i think the manufactors know better than you!
yeah i think it will be fine

My friend Jess has crazy thick hair and she swears by the Chi. I used it once, best way you could spend $100. If you dont wanna spend that much on a flattening iron, buy a wet to dry straigtener. I have Lots of realy thick hair that gets more wavy curly and frizzes, My straightener works great because it straightens your hair before it has a chance to curl or frizz (mine waves and frizzes when it dries). I have the Remington wet to dry iron, I paid like $30 for it and I love it. It takes 20 minutes off of the time of drying and straightening my hair. =)

    Kiyoseki hair straightener ?

    i ordered it last night

did i make a good decision?

does t damage hair? Kiyoseki hair straightener ?
As a stylist, I have used a lot of flat irons/hair straighteners, including Sedu, Hai, Infrashine, Chi, Paul Mitchell, Solia, Big Sexy, Andis, Babyliss Ghd, T3, Kenta etc. You should get a Professional hair straightener, they style much better and faster, and most importantly, they protect your hair.

    In terms of performance:

The best ones are: Sedu, Kenta, Solia, Infrashine, Ghd and Chameleon. These are top of the line professional brands

Above average: Chi, Hai, Paul Mitchell,

Average: T3, Big Sexy, Andis, Babyliss

Below Average: Conair, Remington, Vidal Sassoon, Revlon, Bed Head etc. These are cheap drugstore brands that tend to cause hair damages. If you care about your hair, do NOT buy them.

=== Flat Iron Hair Straighteners FAQ ======

Q: What size should I choose?

A: For most people, 1';, 1-1/4'; or 1.5'; are all good choices. If you have very thick, coarse, long or ethic hair, bigger size (1.5'; or 2';) will save you some time. If you have thin, fine hair, get a smaller one (1'; or 3/4';).

Q: What temperature should I should on my hair?

A: Based on my expereince, 380F is the average temperature to use. If you hair is thick and coarse, bump it up a bit, if you hair is fine or overprocessed, start it at somewhere 300F, and try it. If the setting does not work well for you, increase a bit until you get a setting that works well for you but does not burn your hair. Trial and error.

What's the best brand for hair straightener at wal mart...?!?
if you're buying at walmart, then revlon, conair, or remington will be your best buy for the money. if price is your main concern, conair is the cheapest. you should try to get a fairly thin straightener for the best control over your hair, and ceramic plates heat evenly and quickly.

my personal straightener is a revlon 1'; flat iron with ceramic plates, i got it for like 30 bucks at walmart.

:) hope this helps! good luck! What's the best brand for hair straightener at wal mart...?!?
do you mean like a relaxer or a flat iron?

because for a relaxer, i suggest optimum or just for me (it's for kids maybe it's good for you if it's your first)

hmm for an iron ... try conair? or revlon, or solid gold if they have an iron (i know they have a blow dryer, but i dunno abuot the iron) i don't think they'll have anything really really good there.

I think, from my experiences, the best brand is Revlon. Try to get a ceramic one. Most of them aren't purely ceramic, but they're better than the others.
Well I don't know if this brand is available at walmart! But it is called Ju-bli-es! Or something like that!! But it starts with a J!

I burned my hand with a hair straightener what do i do?

Run cool water over the burn for at least 10 minutes. Cool, mind, not cold and definetly do not put ice on it; bringing the tissue temperature from very hot to very cold very quickly actually causes further damage. Burned skin is very fragile, and you can even end up with frostbite on it.

So, cool water. Then pat the burn dry and, if it's a minor burn, bandage it lightly with nonstick gauze and that's that.

If there are blisters, it's a 2nd degree burn and since it's on your hand you should see a doctor. It's not urgent unless it's a very bad burn-- I don't know what time zone you're in, but it's almost 10 PM where I am, and doctor's offices are closed. If it's very bad-- large blisters, charring, covering a large area-- head to the E.R. Otherwise you can wait till the morning and phone your doctor for an evaluation.

Do not put butter, toothpaste, or any other home remedies on it. Do not put any creams or ointments (neosporin, etc.) on it either, as anything oily or greasy will trap the residual heat and can make the burn worse.I burned my hand with a hair straightener what do i do?

if ;yes. how wet can your hair be( for future ref.)Can i use hair straightener on slightly damp hair?
i use a ';wet 2 straight'; iron. it has different settings and is to be used on wet or dry hair. if you have a regular one then NO WAY!!Can i use hair straightener on slightly damp hair?
You CAN, but you shouldn't. You'll seriously fry your hair, and then it'll look disgusting. If you do decide to do that, atleast put some hair protecter on BEFORE you straighten it!!!
No. its so bad for your hair.
u sould not sraighten it intill it is all the way dry
I dont think you should, it may fry your hair.
Yes you can they make some straighteners just to use on damp hair try googleing it
no, wait until your hair is completely dry or there's a chance it could be fried
    absolutely not.

wet hair %26amp;%26amp; a hair straightner dont go 2 get together

cuz it'll smoke %26amp;%26amp; damage ur hair.

and mite mess up ur straightner

Is a ceramic hair straightener the best straightener??

my hair is not curly its just a little poofy..

and when straightened it looks straight its just has staticIs a ceramic hair straightener the best straightener??
Yes,although Tourmaline is even better. :]

I'd recommend Sedu 1'; Tourmaline flat iron.

=)Is a ceramic hair straightener the best straightener??
yeah that will help you out alot !!!but you don't have to get the ceramic one.i got one that's only $20.00 ask for a less expensive one they work just as good
    chi or sedu

i have the chi and it works great and made my dull hair shiny

but i've heard better things about the sedu
    you should go to folica.com

they have the best ceramic irons there

they even have a list of the best sellers

i would recommend you the SEDU

its the best one out there

    i looove it

dont get the CHI .. it burns your hair

    and breaks easily

  • My expensive CHI hair straightener smells like it's burning!?

It's from the straightener and not from my hair because it smells even before i straighten my hair. Is this normal? Are the ceramic plates burning or something? It's at least 100 bucks so I really don't want to get a new one so I'm hoping that I can just ignore this problem. Do I need to get a new one?My expensive CHI hair straightener smells like it's burning!?
    turn it off

clean the plates, like on the sides, all the hair products and stuff.

but dont get whole straightener wet.

its only 18 bucks and it works if you have thinner hair, but as I have thick............

you can get it at walgreens and costco, target used to but now they dont carry it anymore = (
There's no good cheap ones. A good straightener has good, smooth ceramic (as in actual ceramic!!!) plates and goes up to high temperatures. Try a Chi or a BaByliss.
I have a Remington Wet2Straight, and it's really great. It only cost me about $20 - $25. I don't recommend using it on wet hair even though you can with this straightener, because it will make your hair frizzy and puffy, not to mention it doesn't really make styling any faster really when you use it on wet hair. But on dry hair, it's wonderful. It hardly damages my hair and my hair never looks frizzy when I use it. My hair ends up smooth and shiny, and it stays straight for a long time. If you use the Remington Wet2Straight on dry hair in conjunction with a good heat protection spray (I suggest John Frieda Heat Defeat or TRESemme Heat Tamer), you'll have good results.

Turn it on, set it to the heat setting you would like, brush your hair, clamp the straightener over your hair and run it down. Here's some visual help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myRBa4VX-…How can i style my hair with my hair straightener?
    1. Brush hair

    2. Part it down the middle

    3. Turn on straightener (to highest setting)

    4. Grab a section of hair and run it through the clamps

    5. Continue for entire head of hair.

Has anyone else's chi hair straightener break?

I have an expensive chi hair straightener that I got from my stylist just about a year ago, but like a week ago i plugged it in and it wouldnt turn on! like i kept turning it on but it didnt heat up and the light didnt turn on! and i'm not stupid, ive tried different outlets and it was definitly plugged in.

Has this happened to anyone else w/ a chi straightener?Has anyone else's chi hair straightener break?
Yep-i bet if you wiggle the cord a little- like where it goes into the iron, it will start working...but then you'll have to keep holding it in that exact spot...

I went 3 in two months and couldnt take it anymore. I got a GHD and its a million times better than chi. I'll never go back.Has anyone else's chi hair straightener break?
it did with mine a few years ago. if it has not been a year yet, and you have the box that it came in, take it back. they all have a one year warranty. if it is over a year, you are out of luck. they are awesome flat irons, but for some weird reason the tend to short out after a while.
Yes it did, after a month of buying it. I still had a warranty, so I went to trade it in for a new one. And after almost a year, it still works great! I love Chi's.

How do you clean a hair straightener?

get some iron cleaner from yur hair salon and spray it on a toilet paper then wipe and clean the plates of your straightener make sure you have cleaned all the residue that it leaves on the ends of the plates and yur hair wont really get as damaged. :)

Which is worse: pounding on styling products or using a heated hair straightener?

I would say the hair straightener. When you use your straightener, make sure that you put enough hair product on your hair to form a barrier between your hair, and the straightener. The only problem with the products is that your hair may become greasy, and oily, and it may look wet, or oily or greasy or all three! Good luck!Which is worse: pounding on styling products or using a heated hair straightener?
both are very bad. Just wear a hat.Which is worse: pounding on styling products or using a heated hair straightener?
Both are drying to your hair. Most heavy styling products to straighten hair that are effective contain alcohol. Heated hair straighteners do the same. My daughter has found that if she uses the anti-frizz curl relaxers on occasion with a hair dryer set on cool or low, she can get ';wavy'; hair instead of curly, and they seem to be cream based and fairly gentle.

You are going to do a lot of damage either way if you do it daily. You may decide that if you must have straight hair, it's easier to go to a salon and have them professionally straighten it.

Otherwise, consider a new cut that compliments the hair texture you were born with! There are some fabulous cuts for people with curly hair - and lots of places online where you can upload your photo to ';try them out'; on yourself.
    pounding on styling products
A straightening iron or something like that makes your ends split even sooner and more severely. My sister uses hers almost everyday and her ends looked so bad!!! I on the other hand used Sprunch spray almost everyday for a while and nothing happened. But if you constantly use products in your hair it might strip out the natural oils. Take a break from hair products every once in awhile.
styling products, because they damage the chemicals in your hair. a straightener only effects the structure of your hair. but its still not a good idea to straighten your hair all the time. you need to let the structure turn back to normal sometime or other.
    a straightener
hair straighteners are worse, because products just wash out, but the frazzled bits on your hair don't!
Heat. (straightner) Especially a blow dryer you get fried hair and split ends

neither is good for your hair. as to which one works best, i would go with the straightener, but its a personal choice. make sure you use a heat protectant on hair before using.Which is better for ya hair if ya wanna straighten it? hair straightener or blow dryer?
hair straightener is way better..you get the style you want with it to and in the other hand the blow drier just dries it and dosent give u that look
If you didn't just color your hair recently,.. go to a Salon and have them use ';Relaxer';. It won't damage your hair and it won't make it poker straight but it will make it much easier to work with.

Never use a Blow Dryer,.. that literally fries your hair.

it's a good one, but the Sedu and Solia are also very good, at a cheaper price
Theyre amazing and i havent used anything better- get the thicker plated ones if you have really curly hair :)
    the GHD isnt that great,

the best straitner on the market is EASILY the CHI,

    its amazing.

    its what most professionals use.

they have them now at costco for cheap, but only for a limited time.
the sedu is a great one! with curly hair it would prob. take 15-20 min or less to straighten your hair. i have wavyish hair and it takes 5 min. and it stays straight =)

What do i look for when buying a hair straightener?

Plates: should be ceramic or porcelain, not metal

Temperature: should go up to at least 400 degrees

Temperature control: you should have an option of heat settings ranging in degrees rather than just 1-10

Size: A one-inch plate is much easier to maneuver than a larger one (plus, you can also curl or flip your ends with a one-inch)What do i look for when buying a hair straightener?
-one that protects your hair-doesnt damage it

-but at the same time gets hot enough

-it really comes in handy when you have grabbing spots on the hair straightener so you dont touch the hot part while pushing down.

-the ones that work with wet hair are that great working. they damage your hair alot.

-if your hair is thick get a thicker straightener like 1 and a half or more. if your hair is thin then inch wide ones work good.

-normally you get wut you pay for so dont get a cheap one for twenty dollars. you can get a rpetty good one for like 50.What do i look for when buying a hair straightener?
It really depends on what you're looking for your straightner to do. If you would like it to flip on the ends, try one with the coils on the side. If you would like an extremely flat look, try one with a totally flat surface-no side coils. Also one with a temperature control will help because you can decide how hot you want it. It is also always really nice to have a straightner that heats up in 60 or less seconds for quick and easy hair styles!!
ok I have thick hair that is wavy and frizzy when not done. I use a jillbere titan. It is amazing, i can gat caught in the rain and my hai will stay straight. I also use a Redken balm that protects my hair from the heat of the straightner. I really recomend one from the jillbere line. It has settings from 1-40 and it's ceramic.
one of the straightener that works great is ';infinitii'; from con-air. Because while it straightens your hair it doesn't take the shine away. It gives it more shine.
One thats ceramic...probably the most important thing. Most of them are, unless they're cheap. The ceramic protects your hair from getting fried and makes your hair glide over it easier so it doesnt rip.
Ceramic, multiple settings (10 or 12 is good), i prefer the smaller size plates (1 inch or 1 1/2 inch). The cheap ones tend not to be good.

Also look into buying product to protect your hair from the heat so it's not as damaging. Any curling/flat iron spray should be fine.
Actually, i don't really recommend hair straighteners since it weakens hair strands and prone to dry hair. However, if you're really decided to buy one, I would recommend you the vidal sasson steam hair straightener. Although it takes a long time for the hair to get straight when using this as compared to the other ordinary hair straightener, its still gentler to your hair since the heat it uses is the steam itself.

never heard of solia but GHD is the best!!!!!

The CHI. MOST DEFINITELY! You will not regret it.
    chi
    chi.
Go with the Solia.. the Solia has heat temperature setting which can be adjusted to accommodate your hair type while the CHI is set to ONE heat setting.. if you have thin hair, that may be harmful and damaging to your hair.

Check out the Sedu too.. folica.com actually has a sale where you can get $10 off purchases of $75, $20 off purchases of $100 or more and $50 off purchases of $200 or more.. I purchased my Sedu 1'; from there for only $83 and received free shipping... definitely recommend their service.

If you encounter any problems with their customer service though, contact them through the phone.. the emailing is horrible.

Also, look for flat irons that has titanium, tourmaline, and ceramic plates.. these will help your hair look shiny and healthy.

Ozon hair straighteners are also a good steal.. they're only $90 at ozonhair.com

  • A little hair straightener dilema?

helpp! im thinking of buying a new hair straightener...does anyone know any good ones? my hair is pretty damaged and im looking for something that will help protect it.any suggestions?A little hair straightener dilema?
This is a good one: http://www.folica.com/Chi_Flat_I_317_1.h/a>

But honestly, you just need something with ionic and ceramic plates.A little hair straightener dilema?
Chi works really well, but can be pricey. If you're looking for something cheaper, and in this economy you might be, I recommend the Conair Professional Instant Heat Straightener with Ultra-Hot Ceramic Plates. I own the Conair and really like it. The ceramic plates heat up fast, and compared to other straighteners I've used, my hair isn't as damaged from the heat!
Chi, for sure. it does a really good job on all sorts of hair. Also, if you want to protect your hair, i went to walmart and bought heat protectant. Its made by Garnier Fructis, and is called anti-humidity smoothing milk. It comes in a small, bright green bottle and was only a couple of dollars. It really keeps my hair soft, and helps it to not get dried out. plus, it makes it a lot less frizzy when i want to straighten it.

    good luck.
There are two different hair straighteners I recomend. The first being CHI. They are a little bit more pricy, but they really work.

    Website: www.CHI.com

Also, the flat irion that i am currently using is Hot Tools. I have very fluffy, (lol), and wavy hair. It gets my hair extremly straight. I really recomend hot Tools.

    Website: www.Hottools.com
I'd recommend a chi iron. It's usually $130 but they go on sale sometimes at Ulta so you can get them for anywhere between $70-$100. The chi is a ceramic iron and it's not as damaging to your hair as other straighteners are. It leaves your hair feeling very soft and silky. Hope this helps!
    CHI is your best investment.

i've had mine for 3 years and through all the dropping i do to it, it's still as good as the day i got it.

it makes my hair super straight, smooth and shiny, i wouldn't recommend anything else!

as far as protectants, just buy a protectant spray. i use matrix vavoom heat protection spray. it's really great (:

CHI. They are really good and not horribly expensive. Also, since your hair is damaged, use a heat protectant before you expose your hair to any heat.

    Hope this Helps! %26lt;3
    buy a CHI ,

    and also buy the

CHI 44 Iron Guard Thermal Protection Spray

it protects your hair from the heat.
chi always works good. a little expansive but good over all.
    Vidal Sassoon's straighteners are wonderful.
Vu is pretty good, so is Chi.

is there a line of shampoo or some kind of cream or anything i can use that could maybe smooth and thin my hair or straighten it up? ive used frizzease shampoo and conditioner adn that helps a little bit but it isnt anything miracle like, but im going to try the hair serum too in a few weeks to see if that helps as well

any reccomendations are great thanks alot

hey boy I'm a chick with wavy curly hair. No creams, no shampoos are gonna straighten your hair. Sorry bub. You should see a stylist who can do apply a straghtening solution (kinda like a perm but not) and have it done that way. Or invest in a straightening iron. Also using straightening shampoos ccan build up on your hair as well as oils and creams so you should get a ';build up remover'; shampoo such as Paul Mitchell shampoo 3. Only use that once a month for you. good Luck!Straightening and thinning my wavy thick hair [and im a guy] without using a hair straightener?

Help!! what should i do!! buy a hair straightener or get my hair relaxed?

ok i have super curly hair.. and i hate it! so should i get a super great straightener or get my hair relaxed? i don't really want to get my hair done every 6-8 weeks but i would have to get up earlier to straighten my hair every morning before school!! but it would be less expensive then getting my hair relaxed!

    so what should i do

thxHelp!! what should i do!! buy a hair straightener or get my hair relaxed?
I'm white but have hair that is very much like ethnic hair. It is super curly, thick, and kinky. I've had my hair relaxed and still had to straighten. It also damaged my hair horribly (not to mention how expensive it is). I'd go with a flat iron (Which will still damage your hair, but not as bad.) Be sure to let your hair air dry or use a blow dryer held at least six inches from your hair before using the flat iron. Straightening your hair while it is wet will cause breakage. I also recommend using CHI hair serum and flat iron spray to further reduce the damage that will be done to your hair. Believe me, I know how big of a pain curly hair can be!Help!! what should i do!! buy a hair straightener or get my hair relaxed?
Don't get it relaxed. That can deeply damage your hair.

Here is what you can do:

Get a good haircut that looks right on you, and talk to the hairstylist to make sure you know how to fix it yourself at home. Buy a STRAIGHTENER to use whenever possible, but don't use it every day because this can also damage your hair. There are products you can buy to help straighten your curls, and shampoos that naturally reduce curliness. Keep your hair healthy though, and make sure whatever you buy is quality. Go to a good hairstylist that is very skilled, otherwise you will be sorry with the way it turns out!!

    Good luck!
    Get a straightener!!!!!!!

DO NOT GET IT RELAXED...but it also depends on what kind of hair you have...

the bad thing is you end up spending alot of money on getting it relaxed and when you do their is always a chance you hair will get poofier...

If you decide to invest in a straightener make sure to get a good one....and i mean a good one..dont start off with the cheap ones because they ruin your hair more than the other ones and it will break easier..

    I would recomend the CHI:)

and if you get a chi or any straightener get the 'chi silk infusion'

it works great on hair but dont over use it or else it will make your hair look very oily

    Haveee fun and good luck:)
Chemically straightening your hair wont make it poker strait. It will still be frizzy and/or wavy. You will need a straightener either way. So if you don't want to spend extra time and money every 6 weeks just buy a ceramic straightener. Not ceramic plated solid ceramic. They are more expensive but your hair wont fry. Also try using Garnier Fructis Anti split end treatment before you straighten. It looks smoother and protects it from heat damage.
If you're planning on straitening it everyday,

i would not suggest a straightener.

i did that and now my hair is very dry and brittle,

and it brakes way too much,

no matter what heat protector spry i have used,

im not to sure about the whole relaxed hair thing,

but i would recommend that over straightening it.
WELL NEITHER ONE IS A GOOD IDEA BECAUSE U SAID U DONT WANT TO GET YOUR HAIR DONE EVERY 6-8 WEEKS BUT WITH A FLAT IRON YOU MAY USE IT EVERYDAY AND DAMAGE YOUR HAIR AND RELAXER WILL ALSO DAMAGE YOUR HAIR.
Try getting it relaxed I had the same problem although my hair is short. I use a straightner now but the relaxing seems to last a while even after a hair trim.
    Get a straightener

But personally I think the best hair is natural hair cut properly..
hair STRAIGHTENER because the relaxer really damages the HAIR... but if u get a HAIR STRAIGHTENER dont do it too oftenn cuz that will give u alot of split ends

Is it better to use a wider hair straightener in sort of thick hair...?

Or not?Is it better to use a wider hair straightener in sort of thick hair...?
sureIs it better to use a wider hair straightener in sort of thick hair...?
I think it depends for different people. My hair is really thick and curly, and my wider 2 inch straightener works well, but I just find it harder to handle (w/o burning myself!!). So I prefer smaller.
actually no.. an inch straightner is the best, but with a pretty high temp for thick hair.

Is there a such thing as a portable, battery powered hair straightener?

if so, where can i buy one?!Is there a such thing as a portable, battery powered hair straightener?
I don't think there is one, i mean it sounds convenient, but what if its in your bag and turns on by accident? Is there a such thing as a portable, battery powered hair straightener?
these ones are battery powered =]

i don't think there is one right now. i hope soon :) but last last week i went to the department store and saw a rechargeable hair curler. maybe there will also be a hair straightener soon. i hope :)
i would love if they would make those!!!! omg i would keep one in my locker. but sadly i dont think those have been made. :(
you can get gas powered hair straightners

Whats the best hair straightener... i wanna get a new hair straightener.?

i want a really good hair straightener thats a ceramic ?Whats the best hair straightener... i wanna get a new hair straightener.?
I have a Remington Wet 2 Straight, and I like it because you can adjust it to be hotter which will make your hair straighter. It advises using on dry hair to put it on the setting of like 10 or something if it's dry but I use on 25 to make my hair as straight as possible (I only straighten my hair like once or twice a week so it doesn't get too damaged) I think it was like $25 bucks but you could look at it at walmart

    http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.d/a>

if you are looking for a low cost one, not a 100 dollar one, then you should try this. My straightener is like my best friend, haha, and all my friends use Remingtons too. And we have emo hair so we need it totally straight!

hope you find one you like!Whats the best hair straightener... i wanna get a new hair straightener.?
CHI straightener. It's the best out there. I have very thick wavy/curly hair and it worked wonders in getting my hair straight.
I think the chi works really good.

Iv used it for 6 years, i wont get anything els.
chi its like 100bucks,but worth every penny and they come in kool colors mine is pink....

How do you replace cord on chi hair straightener? Where can you buy replacement parts.?

i have had several chi straighteners and my cord has become messed up more than once...usually my dog chews it up or something.

my mom takes it to a shop where they fix vacuum parts and they replaced the cord.

  • Can u get wet to straight ghd hair straightener?

which is better wet to straight hair straightener (any brand) or ghd?Can u get wet to straight ghd hair straightener?
If you are looking for straighteners then i def recommend ghd but NEVER get wet to straight ones cause they cause so much damage. Your hair is more prone to damage when it is wet and it will end up breaking off and going fuzzy. Ideally we should not use straighteners at all, but couldn't leave the house without using mine! Can u get wet to straight ghd hair straightener?
Wet to straight hair straighteners are really bad for your hair, they knacker it up completely. Better off drying seperately then straightening.
Listen... i would die for my GHD's if they asked me to.... I have long wavy hair and from time to time, I like to straighten it... when I want to look sophisticated and not too wild. The only thing that has worked for me is the GHD's... it's like God himself invented them.
The only brand I know of that has wet to straight is Remington.

I use one, and it doesn't dry my hair like normal ones.
nope you cannot. if you could i would love to have them my hair takes ages to dry :( and they would be easier and less time consuming
    try Conair, or Remington.
    dry ur hair first
you cant and not advisable to use on wet hair it would burn straight off no joking!! hair must be completely dry to use a ghd on, but trust me it works wonders on fuzzy hair!!
    nooooooooooo
I have a wet to dry straightener and it works very quickly and it was $25 and it works as well on wet hair and on dry hair and the last time my hair looked like it did when I first got it was when I used my friends 100 dollar straightener!

    here's the brand...........Remington wet2straight......

    good luck!
they really damage your hair. i do not recommend them!
yes.if you use normal ones it will knack your hair
