Definitely get a CHI...they are expensive but so worth it and will last you forever. Just remember to get something to put on your hair before or after you straighten it so it doesn't dry out your hair and get brittle on the ends. CHI has great products too for your hair. Well GHD's are the obvious choice for your hair type but i have recently bought a pair of BaByliss Pro 230 straighteners, they actually work better on my hair than GHD's however the downside is that you have to fill up a little compartment with water but thats a very minor problem . hope my answer helped ! Everyone I've ever talked to says get a CHI. I have a knock-off PHI and have been really happy with it. I got it off ebay. I can buy 3 PHI's and still be money ahead rather than dumping it all down on the CHI. It handles humidity and thickness rather well.

well my hair has such bad dead ends from GHD's but there really good. You see the thing is i dont use cereming or spray or whatever your supposed to use.
So sometimes the cheaper ones are good.
I would recomend babyliss.
Not quite sure about the humidity, thickness, etc. but, as far as straightening the hair; electricity!
