Dry as in brittle? probably not, you may actually do more damage to your hair with one, get your hair healthy then try it...I have thick curly/frizzy hair and to manage it I do use a straightener, it works well...but I do have to use frizz control products when there is a risk of high humidity *when my hair gets a mind of its own*Should i use a hair straightener if my hair is dry and frizzy......?
you can but use some 'frizz ease' or sirum
styling gloss type stuff
apply it lightly before you straiten it.
